A trip to Eataly

Last week while I was in NY visiting family I had the opportunity to go to Eataly.   I was really anxious to check it out, and it didn’t disappoint.

The produce was a feast for the eyes.

Just look at these beautiful mushrooms.

All the produce was picture perfect.

While we were there Lidia Bastianich was doing a photo shoot so there was a camera crew following her around.

Eataly is divided up into sections; for example there is le verdure, gelateria, La Rosticceria (which I stayed far away from) and la pizza and pasta to name a few. La verdure is where you would find only vegetables, this is where I longed to be. However since I was with a group we ended up at la pizza and pasta.

It was a nice place to sit down and eat lunch, about 10 minutes after we sat it was totally packed. We were lucky to get there when we did.

We ordered this beautiful sampling of vegetables, it was quite good.

Winter Salad

My sisters ordered some pizza for the kids and I ordered this beautiful winter salad. It had fennel, cauliflower, celery root and Asian pear. Delicious. I tried a small part of the pizza crust that didn’t have cheese on it just to see what it tasted like, it was OK. The pizza was kind of limp when I picked it up, but the crust was crispy. I wasn’t missing anything by not eating it.

Fresh pasta with seafood

We also got an order of seafood pasta. The sauce was a bit heavy for me and didn’t sit well with me at all. I was not happy after eating it, but then again I’m pretty sensitive to oil. Pasta aside, it was a great place to visit. I’m sure I’ll be back soon.

I predict that next time I go I will sit at le verdure with a giant glass of prosecco.

  • Yum, yum, yum! I’m trying to really pay attention to how my body reacts after eating certain foods. Some things taste good as I’m inhaling them, but leave me groaning when its over. Got to cut those foods out. This place looks awesome!

  • it *all* looks so good 🙂

  • i would probably lose all control there 🙂 after watching your blog and following you for as long as i have, i’m surprised you would have opted for that pasta. seemed out of your zone. now me on the other-hand, that was right up my alley 🙂 looks like a cool place regardless

    • My sisters picked it out, we were all sharing food. Except for the salad that was all mine 🙂
